“The Lord’s people have always had to sacrifice greatly, in several different ways. This has been the case since the beginning, and it will be the case until the final battle is won.
Some suffer hardship and ridicule for the gospel. Some have lost friends and family relationships because they have chosen to follow Christ. Many have lost jobs, and some have lost their lives. The Lord notices our sacrifice, our obedience, and commitment to following His plan.
He has promised us that, “Everyone that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life” (Matthew 19:29).
It is worth it. A place in our Heavenly Father’s kingdom is worth anything that we may be called upon to sacrifice. As is taught in the scriptures, it is through sacrifice that be obtain knowledge from the Lord that we are not just okay – we are acceptable to Him.
God has an important work for each of us to do here on the earth and in heaven. Work is an eternal principle. Jesus said, “My father worketh hitherto, and I work” (John 5:17). Christ said, “I must work the works of him that sent me” (John 9:4).
So too, it is with each one of us. We each have an important purpose and mission to fulfill while on the earth. Our lives have meaning and significance. Things are not coincidental. They happen for a purpose, and that purpose is to bring to pass God’s purposes – which is to bring to pass the salvation and eternal life of mankind.
I know this. I know that God is our Father, and that He loves us. He loves each and every one of us. He wants us to be happy. He wants us to find joy in this life and in the next. He wants us to be like Him and to have all that He has. He has provided a wonderful, perfect, eternal plan of happiness to help fulfill his purpose.
We are not alone. We have a very loving Heavenly Father and our elder brother Jesus Christ, who watch over us and care for us. They have not abandoned us here on earth. They do not want us to fail – they want us to succeed. They have trust and faith in our abilities to choose righteously, and to continue to choose God’s ways rather than man’s ways.
There are ministering angels all around us – guiding us, protecting us, inspiring us, inviting us, helping us – and fulfilling their duties and responsibilities given to them now and in the preexistence. We in turn have a duty and responsibility to do our part in helping those who have passed on to become who they can become as well.
It is through faith and obedience that we can be healed. We can change. We can improve. We can learn. We can trust. We can be perfected. Through the power of the Atonement, all things are possible.
I know this to be true. God is real. He is our loving Heavenly Father. Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. He came to earth to fulfill his foreordained mission as part of the Plan of Salvation that was designed and organized in the beginning. He will come again, and this time it will be in great glory, with concourses of angels and Saints singing praises to God on the Highest.
I have seen them. I have heard them. I testify of them. I know that any and all of God’s children who desire to know these things for themselves can do so if they put their faith and trust in God and seek after Him.
Ask Him for yourself. Do not doubt. Have faith and believe that you can know the truth of all things. He loves you, and He will answer you.
As we are counseled in the scriptures, seek not for the riches of man, but seek after Him, and He will bless you beyond measure. He is waiting for each of us to turn to Him. He stands waiting at the door, ready to answer, but it is up to us to knock. We have to do our part.
I am confident that in the end, no matter what struggles, no matter what we are called upon to sacrifice and go through in this life, God will fulfill all of his promises.
As is stated in Matthew 25:21, I know that is we choose faith over fear, and are obedient to the Lord’s commands, He will approve of our offering and will say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou has been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of the lord.”
I know this to be true. I testify of His love for you and for each of us. I testify of His great eternal Plan of Happiness. I testify that Jesus the Christ is our Savior and Redeemer. I testify that He will one day return to the earth a second time, in power and great glory, to rule in majesty and love, and to take His proper place in the Kingdom of God on the earth.
I know that if we call upon the Lord and put our faith and trust in Him, we will be guided and protected from the fiery darts of the adversary. Although we may not understand why things happen the way they do, we can learn and know for ourselves what God would have us do, individually and collectively.
It is my testimony that is we are faithful and obedient, God will lead us by the way and will bring us safely home.”
